Hi,
I’ve meticulously set up my composite wall structure, but when I place an opening, it cuts through every layer, including the crucial outside finish (brick, siding, stucco, etc.). This creates an incorrect representation in both 2D and 3D.
is there a way to preserve the outside layer (of the stucco) inside of the opening, like on the picture below:

I don't think there is a simple solution. Model it from a wall, a slab, a beam or a mesh.
Model it as it would be built in reality...
This solution works, but it's not very elegant 😉

Hi,
A workaround of sorts would be to make your opening from a simple window opening (from the window tool). That way, you can define a custom reveal that you might adjust to fit your needs. It doesn't neatly combine two surfaces, though, even if they are the same.
on the left is a regular opening, on the right is the window opening with reveal. The surface follows the edges as well:
hope this may help.

If you are going to use a Window, why not use a Rectangular Window Opening or similar and use the Closure settings?
Ling.
ps. When did they change the reveal to drawing the outside skin instead of just stretching the wall inward?
