ZOOM ISSUE

What could be the cause of the following issue in ArchiCAD 29?

It could be a "far from origin" issue.

is this an exploded DWG? my guesses are:

-extents too far from 0,0,0

-excessive content in a single view (have seen similar with 100,000 fills/lines/etc. in a single worksheet)

-scale issue (contents of dwg at large scale, then reduce view's scale after exploding)

...

more than likely it's a work-environment bug that should sort itself out after restarting.

I used to work with real world coordinates in ArchiCAD, and I've never had this issue before.

I am not psychic, so I will guess what that is.

if the problem is when panning, or zooming in and out, the screen gives a lot of cropped versions of itself, like drawing part of the image and not having time to finish the image then drawing the next bit of the image as the screen moves, leaving fragments of the image, making a mess that persists?

when that happens to me, I think it is caused by a screen graphics layer/channel error/issue of the graphics card, so I move the Archicad window to  a different screen, then back again, and the problem goes away.(yes on a windows computer)

The reason I'm guessing this is because the zoom is 1541%, the lines vary in width, and seem to be oddly parallel, with neat slices like they are from the screen cropping edge, almost like its a single element being dragged across the screen while zooming in and out.

And because I'm not psychic, I don't even know if that is the question from the image and description.

I'm sorry I can't help.

P.S.

This is a hint that you should describe the issue with more detail,

Is it a graphical only issue, or does it corrupt data in the file?

Is it a persistent issue when you zoom beyond a certain scale?

Does the error go away when you zoom out?

Does the error go away when you switch to another window i.e. to 3D then back to plan?

Does the error fix itself when you drag the Archicad window to another screen?

Does the error fix itself when you close the file without saving and reopen it in the same copy of Archicad?

Does the error fix itself when you close the file with saving and reopen it in the same copy of Archicad?

Does the error fix itself when you restart Archicad?

Does the error fix itself when you restart your computer?

Does the error only occur in the one file?

Is that file a teamwork file?

In most versions of archicad i have had the issue where there would be a screen glitch where zooming in,

it would cause ghost images to appear(like what you see above) and the image would stay in the floor plan window.

this would not go away from zooming out.

this would not go away if I switched to another window i.e. 3D window, and then back to plan.

this would not go away if I switched to another program, like email, and then back again.

this would not go away if i minimized archicad and then bought it back to full screen.

this would correct itself when i moved the archicad window to another screen(multiple screen setup).

After I I could then move the archicad window back to the main screen and the error would stay fixed.

It was a random occurrence, and

I had it happen enough times to have a quick fix I can remember.

And it has happened possibly about 20 times in the past 18 years, possibly more.

it has happened in many versions of archicad including 12/15/18/22

I don't know how many times my error occurred because the fix was so quick, and the error didn't replicate itself in the file after the fix, on the same day.

More than 18 years ago I was working on Mac, and it never happen on Mac.

I don't know if that is an option for you to drag to another screen,

and I don't have enough information to confirm that is the same problem I had or that that my fix would work.

sorry again.

It's not about an exploded DWG, but local georeferenced data in DWG related to the project site I am working on.

This happens when zooming in the drawing into the 2D window. It's about a georeferenced project through which other consultants collaborate using software programs from AutoDesk.

A georeferenced drawing worked on by consultants using Autodesk products, would make me guess that you have a reference point a few thousand kilometers from the relevant data in question... Hopefully it is on it's own layer that you can just remove...

When such graphical issues are happening, it is always a good idea to update your graphics card drivers to the latest version as a first step.
