Daylightfactor calculation according to European norm EN17037

In the Netherlands and also other European countries, we need to follow the European Norm 17037

De Daylightfactor is included in the European standard NEN-EN 17037. This standard provides guidelines for determining the amount of daylight in buildings and specifies how the daylight factor should be calculated. The standard is designed to ensure the comfort and well-being of occupants by establishing quantitative and qualitative limits for daylight.

Schedule Display orders for easy editing & sorting

It would be fantastic to have a way of scheduling or listing the display order of everything so you can easily go to one location and sort everything onto the right display level.
Currently its so hard to keep track of this using only the element information palette.
New items you copy dont go onto the same level as the item you copied, they always seem to be placed at level 8? eg the settings dont come across when duplicating elements.
There is no simple way to check the display order without selecting each element (is there?!).

We try to follow display order rules set by our office and it would just help so much to have a way of sorting and easily editing these.

More Plumbing Objects that are working with the "All Relevant Stories" Floor Plan Display

So far a handful of Plumbing Elements (from the default Archicad 27 Library) are working well with the View's Floor Plan Cut Plan Floor Plan Range if we use the All Relevant Story Floor Plan Display settings and they are 1 story above.

AndrasBognar_1-1740605225598.png

The goal that we try to achieve is to have a MID-Floor Framing Plan View made from the Ground Floor Story so we can see the Doors and Windows from the Ground Floor and place the MID-Floor Framing Object or Beams on the First Floor with Show Home+1 Down. The Plumbing elements (sink, toilet, shower tray, drain etc.) in the Bathroom and the Internal Walls on the First Floor have the All Relevant Story Floor Plan Display.

AndrasBognar_0-1740605128384.png

In this case, we can set the MID-Floor Framing Plan View's Floor Plan Cut Plan Floor Plan Range to see above and the Relevant Items should show up. But not all of the Plumbing objects can do that. The Urinal 27 the Basin 27 and the wall are doing the job. But the Toilet and the Shower Tray don't do it.

The following Plumbing Objects from the default Archicad 27 library are working (green) and not working (red) in this scenario:

Publish IFC using IfcSpatialZone class instance

I am requesting the ability to instantiate IfcSpatialZone when publishing using the MVD IFC4 Reference View from Graphisoft Archicad.

The IfcSpatialZone class appears in the IFC Schema when setting up Property Mapping in the IFC Translator.

davdelven_0-1740494474783.png

However, there doesn't appear to be a way to generate any geometry and map it to that class using the Type Mapping setting.

According to the buildingSMART International (bSI) Technical Report:

IFC Spatial Zone – Use Cases, Requirements and Implementation BR-2023-1025-TR Report

the IfcSpatialZone entity was introduced in the IFC 4 schema as a flexible spatial object to represent non-hierarchical project decomposition under some functional consideration. The official IfcSpatialZone specification (this URL points out to the current MVD IFC 4.0.2.1. Reference View 1.2. implemented within Archicad) can be found on the buildingSMART website. This entity is a cross-domain/discipline one; therefore, it is also for architecture, structure, facilities, or any other type of infrastructure; therefore, it applies to the Archicad use cases, too.

davdelven_1-1740494666463.png

  • Unlike the traditional IfcSpace entity, which represents physically and logically partitioned space, an IfcSpatialZone may overlap and have independent placement and shape representation.

  • This allows it to express various functional zones such as thermal, construction, lighting, or usable area zones.

  • IfcZone is just an assignment (a collection of IfcSpace objects) but lacks its own geometry, only the addition of Archicad Zones geometry.

The advantage of using IfcSpatialZone is that a geometry can be attached to an independent spatial structure, not following the hierarchy of IfcSite > IfcBuilding > IfcBuildingStorey. There are situations where such spatial structures need to be conveyed, such as safety volumes or urban planning constraints.

The bSI Technical Report also describes five prominent use case clusters for the IfcSpatialZone model-based approach:

  • Spatial Coordination / Reservation

  • Spatial Definition / Declaration

  • Spatial Regulation / Validation

  • Spatial Message / Information

  • Spatial Boundary for Analysis & Computation

So, my wish is to be able to instantiate IfcSpatialZone when publishing using the MVD IFC4 Reference View from Graphisoft Archicad.

Feature Request: Custom Profiles for Frames and Casings in Doors and Windows

Feature Request: Custom Profiles for Frames and Casings

One of Archicad’s strengths is the flexibility of its door and window library, which allows for extensive customization. However, while it is already possible to insert custom leaf profiles, there is currently no way to define custom profiles for frames and casings.

Introducing this feature would bring several benefits:

  • Full control over frame profiles, allowing for more accurate representation of real-world construction details.
  • Custom casing profiles, improving precision in architectural finishes.
  • Seamless integration within parametric settings, enhancing both design flexibility and consistency.

The lack of this customization option feels like a limitation, especially considering how powerful the rest of the system already is. Implementing it would be a natural and valuable enhancement, making door and window modeling even more versatile and precise.

Multiple Renovation Phases

Feature Request: Multiple Renovation Phases

I am an Archicad user with extensive experience in BIM modeling, and I believe an important improvement would be the ability to define multiple and sequential renovation phases beyond the existing three options: Existing, Demolished, and New Construction.

This feature would allow for:

  • Tracking design variations, where changes are made to elements that were already planned in a previous phase.
  • Managing complex construction workflows, avoiding the need for model duplication or cumbersome workarounds.
  • Dynamic state transitions, where a "New Construction" element in one phase automatically becomes "Existing" in the next.

I recently worked on a project where this limitation made it very difficult to manage different construction phases efficiently. In Revit, this feature is already available, and its absence in Archicad significantly complicated my workflow. Implementing it would greatly enhance project flexibility and version control over time.

Layout Autotext Request for Project Indexes

Dear Graphisoft Team,

I would like to inquire whether it would be possible to include the following Autotext options in Project Indexes:

  • Layout Number in Top Subset
  • Number of Layouts in Top Subset

These additions would be greatly beneficial for organizing project documentation more efficiently.

Thank you for your time and consideration. I look forward to your response.

Best regards,
Takis Apostolides

Building Materials: Section Cut Fill vs Plan Cut Fill

Within the Building Material dialog, it currently has a single option for Cut fill

Currently it looks like this

JeffH_0-1739979313673.png

My wish is adjust this to an option for Plan Cut Fill and also an option for Section Cut Fill.

The perfect Building Material example would be Concrete Block or Brick

CMU in Section is 8" tall (7-5/8" + 3/8"),    In plan, those are not the dimensions.  Yet we can only make one selection for its appearance across the board.

But if there were 2 options, we could have a fill that shows Brick Coursing for sections, while still seeing the industry standard hatch for Brick in plan view.

I'm sure there would be other instances where this would be useful, but until Graphic Overrides can work for individual skins of an element , I don't see a useful workaround outside of having to place a 2d coursing object on my sections overtop of the walls, when we want to show that level of detail

Flip or rotate the 2d plan preview of windows/doors in schedules

We need the 2d plan preview of doors and windows in schedules to be able to flip, so that their opening lines can correspond to the View from the Opening Side in the Windows/Doors Schedule.

Change units per Field on Schedules

When you need the ability to change units not per entire schedule rather than a simple Field, this feature sounds useful.
Currently in AC28 when you need to change the units for your schedules, you need to either change the Calculation or Working units or change the Saved View's Units (not working always) (reference image attached)

rodrigoflores_0-1739551566205.png

Instead of that, should be useful to express or show different units per field on Schemas or Quantity Tables.  This should be done easily by adding features to schemas when you click on a field having settings to adjust units directly on tables.

For Example:
In Latin American countries, we work MEP elements in both Metric and Imperial Units. Actually, you should change the calculation units to do this, instead of that should be helpful to change how the units are shown per field. So you can have length in the Metric System and diameters or section sizes working with Imperial Units (fractional inches which is the most annoying thing)

  1. In the following image you can see, there are MEP fields extracting Length and Diameter in Metric System.
To do the change for Imperial units.
    rodrigoflores_2-1739551932402.png
  2. Maybe, by common sense, you would think to save the view in imperial system but that would affect the entire schedule. So this doesn't works. So you dig into the next step.
    rodrigoflores_3-1739552018421.png

  3. The next common thing is to change the Calculation Units, considering this would affect the whole project should be considered as a partial solution. This should change the whole units schedule. The work around for this is to make a property to convert  from fractional inches to meters for the length, and then to a STRING, and that's it but it's frustrating to have this long workaround for something that could be simply done.

Override All Surfaces in Element Settings

It should be possible to with just one click override all surfaces of an element instead of going having to first override atleast two, then link surfaces and then override some more surfaces.

MEP Elements 2D / 3D Preview on Schedules

As part of the awesome features of Archicad is the way to extract or show native 2D / 3D previews for each elements on Schedules.
Since Archicad 27, MEP elements aren't capable to show this previews. Instead you get a blank cell. This is sad.
Why loosing an awesome feature with a "hopefully. near future" awesome MEP Modeler?

This is important due to:

  1. Gives to the viewer, designer, reviser and client the capability to know wich element is beign extracted
  2. Gives the designer to take notes over the preview 2D / 3D cells (as you can do on Door or Window schedules)
  3. Communication is important, so graphical communication is a distinctive of Archicad. Please mantain that.

Allow Stair to overlap itself on Floor Plan

ArchiCAD won't allow me to have a single stair which overlaps itself, meaning if there are three or four flights in a dogleg stair between stories I have to draw two separate stairs. So the wish is to allow this to be the case!

Cloud Licence - Allow single GSID to consume multiple licences

Another Cloud licence request.

Previously with Codemeter as the licences were just floating on the network, if I needed to open up archicad on my desktop and laptop at the same time, that was fine. It just consumed two of the available licences.

Now however, if I want to do that, I need to be logged in to unique graphisoft IDs on each device which is really frustrating.

My request is to permit a single graphisoftID to consume multiple floating licences at the same time.  So if I have 10 licences available, 2 would be consumed, and 8 would be left available.  It just means I can be logged in to the same graphisoftID on both computers.

To be clear - this does not mean trying to cheat the system and use the same licence on two computers at the same time, each device would still consume a separate licence.

We currently use Foxit PDF Editor, and this is how this feature is handled by them..

Cloud Licence - Usage Reporting

Previously with Codemeter licences I was able to get a report of the usage logs and manipulate that into a report of daily usage patterns.

Now that we have been moved to a cloud licence I have no way of understanding what our offices daily usage patterns are, and whether we are nearing capacity or not.  We have 29 licences operating in a floating group, with about 35-40 staff who access archicad on an adhoc basis.

My request is to have the ability to see a report or atleast download a log of usage in csv/json format that I can feed in to excel to produce a report.

Thanks,

Scott

Place on layout EXACTLY as MARQUEED

I constantly have to resize and reshape and search what I want to add on layouts because the tools just throw there anything in view instead of specific part of plan that I want on the layout.

Please allow actually take advantage of the Marquee tool and let us add on layout exactly what we choose in marque tool.

Partial 3d styles

In 3d using different 3d styles set by selection. For instance surroundings, terrain, non focus areas in display "model , black and white" (3d style a) and the new buildings in "detailled color" (3d style b) please.

Being able to open kitchen 3d elements like before

In previous Archicad version (24 or 25 I guess), it was possible to open the doors from Kitchen objects, but now in Archicad 27 it is impossible.

Why is that so ? it used to be an interesting feature, I don't understand why it doesn't exist anymore.

Will it be possible again ?

Best,

Gabriel
