2 composite wall connection

Hi! Im having some weird behaviour between 2 composite walls that i would like to see if someone can help me understand:

I have 2 types of composite walls. When i connect Type A wall to type B, it works fine below the green line. As soon as i displace it above the green line, it snaps out of the connection and does not ant to connect properly to type B composite wall.

any ideas?

Thanks,

Z

Hi,

That is because in the 2nd case, the reference line (blue line) can "attach" to the reference line of the vertical wall. In the first instance, they are almost overlapping so Archicad doesn't know which composite takes precedent.

A workaround I see would be to use the wall end tool on the vertical wall, I have tried and it intersects "correctly"

Cool workaround CosminF - and you are right about the ref lines needing to collide for clean intersection.  You could also adjust the reference line into a better position when you edit the complex profile.

Walls will only intersect when their Reference Lines intersect. Wall B has a reference line on the outside face, while Wall A's is on the top edge, hence when you move Wall A into the corner, the Reference Lines will no longer intersect. You have a few options;

  • Change your reference lines of Wall B to the inside edge of the wall. Only the horizintal Wall B would need to change.
  • offset Wall A's Reference Line so that it still intersects that of Wall B
  • place a Complex Column at the corner

How well the Wall End tool works depends on where your reference lines are within your Composites and corner... It would not work in the OPs situation.
