Modernised Color Picker

The Edit Color window is very dated. It needs the ability to input hex color codes and should probably have an eyedropper as well.

Archicad - Edit Color.png

If I currently want to colour match something, I have to use the eyedropper in Photoshop and then break down the RGB values to input into Archicad.

I would suggest copying something like the Unreal Engine color picker which works well:

Rhino's Select Color window can also be used for reference:

Folders for Project Map Items

We need the ability to organise viewpoints with folders - just the same as saved views....

Focus on existing, underdeveloped, tools

I wish that GS put some focus & development resource on the underdeveloped tools it already has. I feel this would add far more to the functionality of the software than adding new tools. Granted the design options function was requested and they are delivering this in V27 but what about an upgrade to the mesh tool which has been unchanged for decades. I'm not sure why this is still in 'under research' on the roadmap as it is sorely need. GS could incorporate LAND4 functionality into AC  and they would instantly bring huge gains in this area of design.

Doors & windows is another area that could do with a major upgrade but this is stuck in the 'idea pool' when it should be in the 'in progress' section.

What about a floating palette for live control of layers? Surely a junior developer could make this happen?

Keynoting is in the 'under research' section when it should also be 'in progress'. Efficient database sourced notation would provide huge gains in our workflows especially if it is integrated nicely into the Properties and Classifications functionality.

I realize that things can't happen overnight but GS is a large multinational software company so some of these glaring omissions in its toolset is frustrating. AC users are forced to develop workarounds or pay additional fees for tools that should be in the base AC offering.

I wonder if the Nemetschek umbrella will continue to fund AC as it loses users and can't pay for itself?

Make the railing settigns more simple

May be this issue has been solved in AC 26 but I gess not.

Railing wiew settings (pens, hatch, materials, surfaces, etc.) take tooooooooo much time to select separatly for each part of the element, in 2d and 3d.

For managing material, I just created a building material called "railing" for which I choose color in each project, but that meens all the railings of one project appears tre same color.

But for managing pens, I need to go into each part, choose the apropriate pens separately for 2d and 3d, then close this part and do the the same in the other one, etc.

For that purpose and for more issues, I would love :

- A menu grouping the pen settings of the whole element (not just for plan wiews but also for sections and elevations) the same setting box for 2d and 3d pens.

- A tick option for choosing the same material for all parts.

- A tick option to force the railing stay horizontal at the selected level. (In situations without stairs, it's time loosing to check slope in section views...)

- Copy-paste tool for parts of the element into the element editor.

- "take and give properties" tool for parts inside the editor.

- And may be more.

It should be possible to correctly create a good railing with much less steps !

And please, don't create the future window tool so complicated as railing is !

More & better GRAPHIC OVERRIDE options

The graphic overrides are awesome, but many times you need more. For example:
- override a part of a bigger object, but not the whole object (like a window, complex profile, wall, composite, stairs...).
- override surfaces in an elevation
- override the lines of a wall different depending on its surfaces for a wall finishes plan
- many criteria are "contains" and that gives you the wrong override with composites and materials

Graphic Override styles to access properties

This might be best explained through an example.

Imagine if you had a property that contained the embodied carbon of an element (kgCO²/kg).

Then you had an expression-based property that converted the kgCO²/kg to an RGB value.

Not sure exactly what that would look like, perhaps R = kgCO²/kg x 50, G = kgCO²/kg x 10, B = kgCO²/kg x 75.

Concat Expression R & G & B.

The end result would be a graphic override that could on the fly change the colour of an element based on its Embodied carbon.

At the moment you need as many GO rules as there is values.

Endless other applications

Hope that makes sense.

Multiple floorplans open in tabs

Having multiple floorplans open at once, so it's easier to flick through plans rather than going up and down in stories.

Eg, whilst working on a module on a different story, I want to be able to quickly go to another floor to check how it updates. Especially when it's a dense file and it takes a while to reload. Hence having two plans up at the same time (similar to having the section/elevation up with the floorplan).

Improving Element Settings with Extended MVO Options

Expanding MVO (Model View Options) to cover all elements, allowing users to switch between Local Settings and MVO for uniform control, would significantly enhance workflow efficiency. Currently, some objects support this, but extending it to all tools, including native ones, could offer more consistent and streamlined control.

For instance, the
Mesh tool benefits from individual settings like Ridge Selection, yet integrating these into MVO would allow for global adjustments across different view types. Perhaps theres also room for incorporating Projection settings into MVO. For example Roof/Slab Outline settings in one view vs the next.

Prevent locked objects from being selectable

When working with a busy model it is often difficult to select the right object/element. Tabbing through the available selection candidates sometimes doesn't work and it takes a bit of zooming in and out to finally get at the right thing.

Other times we have some objects whose shape and position has been set and locked and they won't change. Selecting those elements doesn't make sense most of the time.

It would be really helpful if there was a way to disable selection of locked items. This of course would be a toggle option of the selection process.

Railing as a zone boundary

I think I have posted this in old Wishlist but it did not make it here, so here I am again.

Often there is a situation in which we need to create a zone/space outside of the object such as balcony.

If I want to stick to automatically place zone based on boundaries or reference lines, I need to create a Line/Polyline defining the space. But in case of the balcony, there is usually a Railing. Why not to use this Railing as a zone boundary?

Cloud-agnostic relative paths for hotlinks, external drawings, Publisher Sets, and libraries

Hi this was an old request in the now archived wishlist forum from 1904, pretty sure it had at least 10000 up-votes. In any case.

Please add relative links for the following:

1. Project Info

Because automation is a thing now, I automate the creation of the .xml in every job folder and it needs to be painfully, manually imported for every job. When you open the project or update the drawing manager it should check for an update to the .xml file

2. Publishing Location

More painful than having a baby I hear, is setting the publishing location in ArchiCAD each time a different user takes over a job.

3. Embedded Images, PDF's & DWG's

    a. QR Codes, magical, auto-generated goodness! Automatically dropped in the project folder should allow relative links into the title block, which would direct end users to a website to confirm plans are the latest set

    b. Details, Details, Details

MEP - MVO option to show only axis (and others)

Hi everyone

I would like to have an option to show only axis of the MEP elements for certain views. I think it would be great if there was a button in MVO to check if there is only axis shown or axis and element boundaries or boundaries only for MEP routes in 2D (floorpans) and in 3D (axonometric views)
The main reason is when creating a site drawing where all technical infrastructure is shown, I want to see only axis of the routes without its boundaries which are in scale 1:200 or higher unimportant.
Another could be for schematic representation of routes in axonometric views connected to MEP elements.

Best regards
Karel

Line Breaks in Schedules Fields

I would like to have the ability to add/use line breaks in lines in any schedule field. The fields should recognize common line break formatting such as \n, or \r\n or key return. Also, the ability to list the associated labels which are attached any object.

View Map - view publication marker

When there are a lot of views in the View Map, it would be nice if ArchiCAD somehow marked views that are inserted somewhere on sheets or simply intended for publication as views.
Thanks to this, a user cleaning the View Map would not accidentally delete such a view.
All you need is a small symbol next to the view, for example a gray Layout icon in front of the View, or a gray paperclip icon, or something else...:

Criteria Expression Manager

Selecting elements based on different properties is fundamental to CAD/BIM workflow and the intuitiveness and generality of the criteria expressions makes it one of AC most potent functions.

Currently criteria expressions have to be created for each use (find and select, find and check, graphic overrides or scheme settings) which is not only inefficient but the different interfaces means slightly different and limited ways to do it.

Instead I would like to see a dedicated manager for creating criteria expressions which are globally available for all current and future (hint: visibility) uses. The interface can then be built with full focus on the expressions paving the way for realising their potential.

Some starter points:

  • Make it possible to organise (name/tag/description) and search expressions.
  • Make it possible to create variants of expressions with different values - removing the need for multiple independent expressions for e.g different stories, measurements, systems et cetera. Perhaps by defining variables which easily can be set when using the expression.
  • Make it possible to create compound expression consisting of multiple expressions - reducing the need of repetition and long expressions.
  • Make it possible to evaluate expressions in the model rendering a list of the extension.
  • Make it easier and quicker to create expressions. Currently criteria first has to be chosen in the list, then the operators set in the editor using the mouse, then values set in the editor once again using the the mouse. It should be possible to do in one go without using the mouse. More command like: search and select criteria <press enter> search and select relevant operator <press enter> search and select or enter value <press enter>.

Finally it should be noted that criteria expressions are an obvious stepping stone to the introduction of AI into AC the form of natural language processing turning prompts like "all doors on the second floor with a width of 900" into expressions. Natural language prompted selection - the marketing team won't break a sweat.

Make BIMx Pro free for SSA members

It is the consensus that ArchiCAD 26's release was one of the most unimpressive upgrades in the long history of ArchiCAD upgrades. Factor in the price point for upgrades or SSA, and it may be at the top... especially since it came after a 10% price increase. Now with SSA for 2023 rising another 10%, it's time to raise the value of keeping SSA. One way is to include the subscription to BIMx Pro (at $9.95/mo) included for free to all SSA members.

You're charging essentially a THOUSAND dollars a year. Why nickel and dime us to death on things you should be including to have value-added SSA? Give us something for this price increase. Because the latest upgrades have not been worth it... especially when some new features are platform specific or only work with a BIMcloud membership as well.

Sketchup makes their model viewer app free to all subscribers. Graphisoft should do the same.

Wrap GDL in Python

Make python a first-class citizen when it comes to creating geometry (even creating "elements" i.e: wall, slabs in Archicad.)

Is hard to understand the design decision of using python for information/documentation management, GDL for creating objects and Grasshopper for creating "elements".

No one feels this ecosystem of automation tools like a mess? Graphisoft is losing "elegance". Where is the "best in class" lemma that Graphisoft used for years as a principle when it comes to last decade demand of automation and tooling?

P.S: Apologize if it sounds rude, but it just want to express my frustration that keeps being there, year after year.

MCP Protocol Integration for Archicad - Critical for Competitive Positioning

Fellow Archicad professionals,

The AI integration landscape is moving faster than anticipated, and we're at a crossroads that will define Archicad's relevance in the next 18 months.
Current reality: While Revit users are already integrating Model Context Protocol (MCP) with advanced AI models (Claude, GPT-4, DeepSeek), Archicad remains isolated from this rapidly evolving ecosystem. This isn't just about convenience - it's about fundamental workflow transformation.

What MCP enables:

  • Direct AI model access to BIM data structures
  • Real-time design optimization and error detection
  • Automated documentation and specification generation
  • Intelligent clash detection beyond traditional methods
  • Natural language model queries and modifications

The competitive gap: Projects that would take weeks in traditional Archicad workflows are being completed in days using AI-integrated Revit environments. This isn't theoretical - it's happening now in major firms.

Our ask to Graphisoft: Prioritize native MCP protocol support in Archicad's API roadmap. This integration should enable:

  • Secure, read-only model data exposure to AI models
  • Controlled write operations through validated AI responses
  • Standardized data formatting for AI consumption

Community action needed: If this resonates with your experience, please amplify this request through your Graphisoft contacts, enterprise accounts, and development channels. Individual voices become powerful when unified.

The question isn't whether AI will transform BIM workflows - it's whether Archicad will lead or follow this transformation.

Timeline matters. Every quarter of delay compounds our competitive disadvantage.

Who else sees this as mission-critical for Archicad's future?

BIMcloud SaaS External Backup

BIMcloud SaaS in located on Google servers in Europe, and they are therefore controlled by an American company under American law. Last week we saw Microsoft deny certain European organisations access to their data in the Microsoft cloud because of political agenda: https://www.techzine.eu/news/privacy-compliance/131536/microsofts-icc-blockade-digital-dependence-co...

For cyber security reasons it would be great to be able to be able to do a backup from BIMcloud SaaS to an external location outside the cloud. Your company file server or a physical drive. Preferable it could be automated, but just a manual button for downloading a complete backup of the entire BIMcloud SaaS content would be sufficient.

This would make sure, that if access to BIMcloud data is lost – for whatever reason – users will still be able to recover project data and continue their work.

More cats in Archicad

We need more cats in Archicad - and Graphisoft needs a mascot (yep, a cat).

Perhaps the cat will be like the old Paperclip "I can see that you are trying to draw a wall..."
