Hi Barry, its definitely a Building Materials issue. I spend a lot of time checking everything and it all came down to a select few Building Materials which seemed to be bugged somehow. I rebuilt the Materials from scratch and they work fine now. Its possible that they were Building Materials from someone else's template file that I imported , possibly from a different region version (US). I suspect  this might have been the problem.

In the past I have built my project template files off of other peoples template files as a starting point. I think this can cause a lot of issues and I wont be doing it again.

thanks for the reply. It seems to happening on the building materials level.

Some building materials have an outline , some do not. And yet I cannot see how this determined.

As far as I know it’s not a BM outline but an element skin outline which you can change according to the element’s floor plan and section settings via uncut line type & pen color.

Thanks.

It strange because the same element changes just on changing the Bmat to something else. And even when I edit the first BMat that wont show outlines so that it has the same Fill and Surface as  a BMat that will show outlines, the first BMat still wont show outlines for the element. And changing the outline settings for the element does nothing.

Its as if the Bmat is bugged.and overrides any element outline pen settings.

Have you checked the elevation settings? It has its own settings for uncut line types and pens,

all I said is for floor plan view.

I have checked elevation settings, view settings, element settings, fills, materials, surfaces.

I dont know what setting affects element outlines in elevations except the element outline pen, and this is not changing anything in this particular case; Choosing certain building materials turns off an elements outlines in elevation, and I cannot see why this is.

Thanks, but are 3D view styles applicable to Elevations?

I have so far found that the issue is specific to certain Building materials. regardless of all other settings.
