Labels in 19

So is there a way to get the 'New and Improved' crazy making label tool to behave like the old label tool. I'm just trying to write out plain old text notes in a 2d 'unlinked from the model' section window.

The dragging, copying, and orienting of the new label tool 19 is driving me nuts.

I just want to point and something and write out text.. but they're always backwards, or require 8 different clicks and key strokes to get lined up right.

Hating that the text positions just like the previous one without 'asking' where I want to put it, requiring mirroring, dragging, arrow repositioning, etc. to get it back to a rational place.

I assume I'm missing something, otherwise this tool is buggy or poorly designed.

With the Label Tool active, on the Info Box, right after the Layer Selection button. It is called the Label Type field.

This does not appear in my info box where you describe it. But I have found a section called "geometry method" which solved the problem. This button appears further down in the info box. Selecting "detailed" works like the old tool.

That is what I was talking about. You have AC17 in your signature so I thought you are asking about AC17. This is how it was called in AC17 and had 3 options.
In AC19 it is called Geometry Method. It now has 2 options, because Curtain Wall Member Labeling is now done by the Document\Document Extras\Label Curtain Wall Members menu command.

Just to clarify. You can also label Curtain Wall members directly using the associated labels, if you press "tab" then you cycle between labelling the members vs the whole CW.

Is there a way to "associate" a label that has already been placed to another object? (I guess that would be called reassociate.)

No, this is not possible to do.
I would say the fastest way to "reassociate" is to pick up the parameters of the Label (ALT-click), then place it for the other element. This way it geometry, settings and fields will be the same.
Then you can delete the first Label you don't need.
