I would like to be able to display the Zone Name/Number of any rooms that are cut through by a section marker.

I think it's essential and would not hurt having the option... honestly is just common sense to me: if you can see zones in 3D, you should see them in section too.
Critical for feasibility studies when you wan to cut sections and quickly update them.

It is now possible to display the Zone Name and Zone Number of Zones in Section/Elevation Viewpoints using an Associative Label (Text/Autotext type). Here is the article that details the steps:

https://4dproof.com/4dproof-blog/archicad-21s-first-work-around/

Make sure that the Zones are selected before going into the Section/Elevation Viewpoint, and that the Label is placed with the "Associative" Geometry Method.

Label Tool Workaround is not suitable in all cases. You need to select & label something but this method not working if there is nothing to select. Besides if you want to display additional information like "measured area" that is not possible.

Zones are 3D, so automatic center-based placement would be much easier and fun to use.

Only the autotext label work-around mentioned by Laszlo.

Hi, just 6 years later. i use it and it works reasonably well. It does what it promises: reads the zone in section and put the name of the space and number, then you might have to edit the position of the text, but its better than what Archicad natively offers

Could the text be a text node that always looks to the viewer
Have this in another cad package

Can you post a screenshot that shows what you mean?
Do you mean a "3D Text" object that is placed in 3D, which in Sections is always re-oriented in space so it is in a vertical plane parallel with the Section Plane? And so it is always readable? Is this what you mean?
