Wall openings (doors & windows) visible from story below by floorplan cut plane settings

Please make Wall openings (doors & windows) visible from story below by floorplan cut plane settings.

So there is no reason anymore to put views on top of each other. This will be a huge improvement for construction drawings.

Merge Dimension & Calculation Preferences Settings

Merge dimension preferences with calculation preferences – having these separate is confusing for teams and requires multiple settings.

Zones - additional functionality

Zones should have the ability to:

  • SEO zones using other zones
  • be grouped
  • Give zone labels the ability to read elevation relative to sea level in decimals...regardless of project preferences, this option does not exist.

Properties assigned to Drafting Elements

The ability to assign Properties to drafting tools, not just modeling tools - this would allow scheduling of additional tools. Perhaps by providing a "Drafting Tool" classification with readable data.

Scheduling from other viewpoints

Please provide the ability to schedule elements that are placed in viewpoints other than a story (i.e. schedule fills that are on a worksheet or a defined set of elevations/sections to would allow for 2D take-off diagrams which do not clutter the primary working area of the model).

Including more schedule options for fills, not just area and attribute based info.

Replace layers with classifications

Layers and classifications serve a similar purpose, with layers being the older CAD-era paradigm and classification the newer, standard BIM way. It is somewhat of a nuisance that we still need to fill in and update both. For many long-term Archicad users, this seems like unnecessary double work and leads to confusion and neglect towards classifications, which means poor quality of models and extra work for BIM managers.

I propose to replace layers completely with classifications in Archicad. View management could be done similar to Layer palette by checking and unchecking branches of the classification(s) that are in use, and saved into Classification combinations (like layer combinations).

For compatibility with CAD import and export, some way of automated layer mapping would be required. Eg when importing from a format containing layers, Archicad could create a new (non-hierarchical) classification based on the layers of the original file, which would then enable controlling the visibility in the same way as described above. DWG translators could automatically export classification as DWG layers, with optional custom layer mappings (like now with Doors, Windows etc).

For external drawings linked with the Drawing tool, nothing needs to be done - the embedded layers can remain as they are now (this is our preferred method of incorporating DWGs anyway).

Wishlist filters

Hi,

since the new wishlist which introduced a state of the wish (open, upvoted, under consideration, on roadmap) there were added 2 more states which can occur, which are "closed" and "on hold"

KarelLanda_0-1753273186957.png

I think that there should be a possibility in filters to show these as well. If you start filtering eg. upoveted, the 2 new states will not show up.

Trace & Reference - more references

It would be really useful to show more than one reference with the Trace & Reference palette at the same time with different colours and other options.

Improve access to Project Info & other data fields from Publisher rename autotext function

Hello Team

PS: based on feedback from Laszlo Nagy in the comments below, he confirmed that the Project Info fields are already accessible from Publisher.

So the outcome of my wish should just change to: "see everything as in all data access cases like this. If the data is too long, make the groups collapsible + make the list scrollable & searchable".

================

I want to propose / request to improve the ability to have access to Project Info (and all other data) fields from Publisher.

I have been looking for the most efficient way to build my template for ISO 19650 compliant naming of Auto Text on my Masters & output file names via the Publisher. The ISO 19650 file naming have some fields that are consistent for the practice (ie. Project Number, Originator) and others that are variable by Layout or Sub-Set.

This image shows my current setup where I "Rename" the Layouts in the Publisher with most of the ISO fields as custom Layout Info fields, apart from native Layout, Publisher, Changes & Revision fields.

Archicad ISO 19650 Naming setup.png

Although I have come to a point where I have this working well, the limitation in Archicad for Publisher not able to access Project Info fields makes the entry & management of the ISO 19650 outputs (auto text on Masters & published file names) not ideal.

If it was possible to have access to Project Info fields from Publisher renaming function, then we can pull Project Number, Originator directly from one single entry in Project Info instead of having to enter it into Layout specific fields for every Layout in the project as well.

It makes sense (to me at least) that entering the consistent fields in one place & call it up everywhere needed (1) would save time and (2) remove the possibility for user errors (ie. missing the entry on some Layouts and (3) constantly going back to enter the same info on new Layouts created as we work.

Option to show the fill for the beams when they are overhead

When doing a Reflected Ceiling Plan (RCP), I usually need to show the finish of the beams as well as the slabs or the ceilings. Even would like to show the colour or different fills if they have different finishes.

Also sometimes you have different heights for them and you struggle to have a common cutting plane for the whole floor to show all objects with the fill and still cutting the walls at the correct height.

Even when we use the beam tool for other things it is useful to have the flexibility

Finish the Publisher

The publisher is a pretty great thing, but it falls down for three reasons.

1. It doesnt address modern file transfer. Most practices use some form of file sharing like dropbox, one drive, etc. to send out their files. Once published we want to right click on a single folder and generate a single link and email it out. In the publisher you cant place multiple 'shortcut' folders into a dumb folder with an autodate. What the heck? I want a live folder of PDFs and a live folder of DWGs and a couple of my IFC views in a single folder so i can click publish once, and all of that goes to a single folder with an autotext name (<SHORTDATE> <PROJECTNAME> COORDINATION SET) for example. I dont want to write the damn date out every time i have to publish. and ive spend days trying every other permutation of that darn thing, and nothing allows me to make it a one-click publish exercise.

2. The publish button and [selected items, entire set, transmittal list] should be merged into one button in both Navigator and Organiser. The UI here is infuriatingly clumsy and because the tri list is hidden in navigator, you have to click it every damn time to check what it's set to. This brings undue admin to the user. The reason for not having the organiser open full time is that it slows down archicad. Yes, thats still an issue, even on my 12th gen intel with 64GB ram.

3. the 'add shortcut' button doesnt mean anything to anyone. call it what it is. 'add live layouts', or 'add live subsets'..... anything that directly tells the user what it is and what it does, and doesnt allow users to unknowingly use only dumb folders for YEARS. There doesnt need to be an entire team of software engineers dedicated to useless help prompts,. please make the options self explanatory and not convoluted.

Cutting Planes - Define and Save

It should really be able to define and save cutting planes (and combinations there of) and so make them available across multiple views. Currently cutting planes have to be graphically set up and saved for each view which is both inefficient  and prone to inconsistencies.

Wishes - New Feature Request - Better Project Info control for BIMx & PDF

Hello GS team and fellow users

I want to post this wish / New Feature Request for BIMx for better "Project Info" control when publishing a BIMx Hyper-Model.

When we Publish the BIMx Hyper-Model from Archicad, we can activate to "Use Architect Creits in the BIMx Hyper-Model" but we can not exclude specific "Project Info" fields and keep others. We need better / full control of "Project Info" in Archicad when publishing to a BIMx Hyper-Model.

It has become a priority for compliance with privacy / confidentiality legislation. With all the new laws about Privacy and protection / confidentiality of identity info, it has become important for us to carefully take all care of clearing "Project Info" fields from the Archicad file before we publish a BIMx to the Transfer website for sharing with clients & the project team. Especially for BIMx files that we post online in our portfolio or social media for marketing and even project specific confidentiality policies. We have to do the same even when we give BIMx files to our developer clients and their Sales Agents.

The problem is that this messes up our Masters Auto text so we have to duplicate the files or repeatedly import clean "Project Info" fields and re-import the actual project "Project Info" fields.

Request / suggestion:

  • Can we not get a tick box in "Project Info" to select the fields that can be included in the BIMx Hyper-Model when it is published? And a shortcut button from the "Publishing Set Properties" to the "Project Info" screen will further make this workflow even faster.
  • Or the ability to create 2/3 columns of tick boxes as "Project Info Sets" to select the fields that can be included when the project is published to the BIMx Hyper-Model or any other drawing output (ie. PDF)?
  • Project Info Sets.png

3d Document and 3d View Integration

Allow 3d documents and 3d views to be integrated. Currently, 3d documents can be overlaid on top of 3d views to give vectorized contours. This also solves the issue of textures not being supported in 3d documents.

Screenshot.png

This however requires the following:

  • A separate 3d document and a separate 3d view with matching aspect ratio
  • Frame size must be the same on the layout
  • Contours disabled on the 3d view
  • Uniform transparent fill on the 3d document

A number of complications can arise from this setup. A more robust system would allow you to make the best of both 3d documents and views rather than having to pick between them.

dimension ticks individually editable

I have mentioned this before, but I'll revive it here, as I now work with 3 firms that have requested it:

When selecting a dimension node, we should be able to edit each tick individually. This is useful, since these firms want a 'o' to represent dimensions to centerline, a '/' for dimensions to face of structure, and a '<' for dimensions to face of finish.
often we dimension from center of column to face of concrete, or center of fixture to face of drywall, and even occasionally face of structure to face of finish.

Spell check to cover all output text including keynotes

Spell checker does not currently cover keynotes (or by accounts non-manually entered text/labels). Keynotes especiallly need to be covered by spell check.

There is a work around by exporting the keynotes to an excel file, spell checking in excel, then reimporting. It does come up with a warning note that keynote links might be lost but so far I've not had an issue and I even needed to correct a folder spelling.

This is rather long winded and if you're not aware of the need to spell check this way can result in many notes having text errors.

Exporting Layouts as DWGs: Export into Modelspace in original location or geo-located

We make layouts such as site plans and building plans that layer various views onto a layout such as OS Maps, Landscape plans, GA plans.

We have tried exporting these layouts as DWGs using various translator settings. We would like a method of exporting what is visible on the layout in location and at the correct scale. Could this be incorporated into the translator settings as a tick box?

When we try to export these layouts as DWGs, we find that the views export separately or are nested in the same file side-by-side when it is important that the information is geo-located and overlaid.

Publisher sets based on criteria

Being able to set up Publisher sets based on layout criteria - eg publisher set based on last transmittal or current transmittal

Archicad Icons

Can we please have a bigger difference between the Archicad version icons, maybe the version number included in the icon. We generally run the last 3 versions and they are all very similar. Can the .bpn icon also be made very different to the standard .pln icon, maybe make it red.

Ability to Represent Curtain Wall Sub-Assemblies as Separate Entities in Schedules

Background

Currently, the Curtain Wall tool in Archicad consists of two levels:

  1. The entire Curtain Wall as one comprehensive element (including all panels, frames, and other components).

  2. All individual sub-elements (each panel and each frame separately).

There is no intermediate level that allows a specific sub-assembly (for example, a repetition of the scheme) to be handled and represented as its own entity.

Problem

  • 2D Plan Preview only shows the scheme, not the actual geometry of the real instance of the assembly in the model.

  • The Annotate function creates a drawing view of an abstract idea (the scheme), not of the real model geometry. As a result, users risk dimensioning and documenting information that does not match what actually exists in the model.

  • It is not possible to generate accurate elevations, dimensioned views, or labeling for individual sub-assemblies in a consistent way.

Request

Introduce a new hierarchy level in the Curtain Wall tool that makes it possible to:

  • Define a sub-assembly (a repetition or field based on the scheme) as a separate entity within the model.

  • Generate 2D Plan Previews, sections, and elevations that display this sub-assembly with its actual instance geometry, not just the scheme.

  • Dimension, annotate, and publish drawings of individual sub-assemblies without having to explode the Curtain Wall or use workarounds.

Rationale

Such a feature would:

  • Greatly facilitate the creation of assembly instructions and detailed drawings for individual fields or modular repetitions.

  • Minimize the risk of incorrect information in documentation.

  • This would allow you to list according to the following image, i.e. each repetition separately.
