renovation and skins of composites

It would be great if renovation status could be applied to skins of composites.
Since I do a lot of refurbishment projects, there are a lot of construction elements (wall or slabs, etc.) which are preserved and I add to them only thermal insulation or some other materials.

Now I have to "demolish" whole element and add new one with all the new skins even though this is not the case in reality.
