Show Publisher's exported file path for all publishing methods

Of the 3 publishing methods, to create:

  • Flat file structure -> shows exported file location
  • Folder structure -> shows exported file location
  • Single file --> Does NOT show exported file location

Instead, the success dialog box is effectively redundant/useless as it displays no new information. It repeats what is already shown by the green checkmark and in the status column (see screenshot).

The user expects to see the exported file location in this case as well.

Rhino is better than ArchiCAD prove me wrong!

After 20 years full time of Archicad and only 1 Year equivalent full time of Rhino. I'm well in the position to make this call.

Prove me wrong by adding these sick as Rhino features:

1. Type command bar

2. Re-Do Command by Enter

3. Gumball to move objects in 3D

4. Snap Points in 3D

5. 3D Polylines

6. Multiple viewports for elevations on one screen

7. Optimized High Poly projects

8. Better FBX Import

That's my lazy attempt and all I can think of at the moment.

Element Information Palette Offer Length/Area/Volume Sum of Selection

There's that little palette called Element Information. It is very helpful doing manual calculations. (Yes, in the golden age of BIM, we still do manual calculations; not everything is worth* or can be** scheduled.)

One thing it doesn't offer is the sum of a selection.

Please, add that!

Köszönöm!

* Sometimes you just want to hand select a few items. Believe me, I love schedules, but it carries a danger of including something unwanted and unnoticed.

** Try to make a schedule of fills on an elevation, or polylines etc.

Continue drawing from existing spline

The problem: Once a spline is complete, you can not continue drawing from one end like one can do with a polyline.

The solution: Make it possible to continue drawing from one end of a spline.

See photo if this is unclear.

Schedules - Dimensioning and calculation units

Hi all,

I would like to request an improvement regarding the way measurement units are assigned and controlled in Schedules in Archicad. At the moment, Schedules are entirely dependent on the global project settings, namely Dimensions and Calculation Units defined in Project Preferences. While Dimension Units can be partially controlled through View Settings, Calculation Units cannot, which creates a major limitation in real quantity take-off workflows.

Because of this restriction, in many practical situations we are forced to keep certain schedules on Manual Update, and every time a schedule needs to be refreshed—which happens very frequently during design development—we must first go into Calculation Units in Project Preferences, change the unit system there, and only then update the schedule. This process is repetitive, inefficient, and very prone to human error, especially in larger projects with multiple schedules requiring different unit systems.

At the very least, it should be possible to define the measurement units independently per Schedule. If unit control per individual element or field inside a schedule is not technically feasible at this moment, then a minimum solution would be to introduce a Calculation Units override inside View Settings, similar to how Dimension Units are handled. This would allow each schedule view to operate with its own unit system, without forcing destructive changes at the global project level.

Thank you,

Victor

Dark Mode - Include to Change Background and Grids

With the official introduction of Dark Mode on macOS it would be great if the grids and backgrounds could be linked to this too so a colour for both can be chosen and change the background and grid (where the grid is actually turned on) to also change to the selected colours.

Beam Modeling improvement

Currently the beam tool is lacking basic functionality which would improve its usefulness:

  • be able to set the slant angle also in %
    2D_0-1776085030623.png

  • be able to adjust the angle of the beam end also along the y-axis
    2D_1-1776085145418.png

  • allow to add an end plate similar as the staircase stringers end plate settings - currently for the beams this can be achieved by adding segments to the beam

Improvement to GDL Editor

Hi Graphisoft,

As a ling time GDL programmer I always wanted a decent code editor just that looks like and feels like Microsoft's Visual Studio Code, and although you have delivered it in AC27, I feel that it was intentionally delivered broken!

  1. It's intrusive in the way we like to work with coding
  2. Many options are hidden
  3. There is no way that we can change the preferences of the default installed settings in GDL Editor,
  4. And if I´m wrong, I could find the documentation that will tell me were to look to change those settings.

Flashing taskbar icon for Teamwork notifications/requests (Windows)

It would be nice to have Archicad icon flashing on the Windows Taskbar when you get a Teamwork notification.

When working on several Archicad files or switching between different programs, often on several computer screens, it is easy to miss Teamwork requests. So it would be nice to have an extra "notification" that you see also when not actively in the TW file where you get a request.

Reserve button in Setting Dialogs

We would need to have a Reserve button in Setting Dialogs.

In the Settings of Elements, Viewpoints, Views, Layouts, Master Layouts, Subsets, and very importantly the Book.

You can spend quite a lot of time in these dialogs to be setting everything diligently then realizing the OK button is greyed out as you forgot to Reserve beforehand.

Only the first one of the above list (Elements) is affected by the optional Work Environment Settings to make reservation of selected Elements automatic, however that setting is not something we usually want people in our office to use as many of them want to make sure they are just checking things and not amending them accidentially. But even more importantly this WE option isn't even a solution for the majority of my list above.

A Reserve button would be much more safe, useful, and consistent with the settings of the Attributes.

Renovation filters

Can we please have the option to lock the default renovation filter.

The common problem is when selecting New status as the default, it does not remain the default, at some point it goes back to existing status, however drawing work continues without realising the default his now existing.

Later in the day when this error is spotted, time is wasted going back over work and moving things onto new status.

Not sure why this happens, but a simple lock would be great.

Hole Area in Element Information

Element Information is lovely and great!

Selecting fills, slabs and similar items, we can get the following areas:

Area, holes considered

Area, holes not considered

How about the sum of all holes in a fill/slab/roof?

Yes, that would be awesome for calculations!

Thank you!

Magic wand - keep outer and inner contours

It often happens to me that i want to add via magic wand to the outline of a slab, fill, mesh, roof to another slab, fill, mesh, roof which has openings or holes within and i always end up having to redo/substract the holes.

  • it would be amazing if you could at least tab through an outer and outer + inner contour configuration when using the magic wand

  • it would be great if useless (collinear)  control points are automatically removed in the process. Currently if using the wand to add to an existing shape the intersection of edges generates control points which 99% of the time are only adding to complexity.

Zoom/Pan/Rotate in Preview Windows

I find myself wondering many times why there is no possibility to zoom into the object preview window, curtain wall schedule preview or handrail preview tool. It feels like another gimmick that lost track after its inception. Maybe pimping it up just a tad would turn it into something useful...

Wouldn't it be great if you could actually preview what you are doing in that preview window?

Double Warning when Selecting ‘Don’t Save’.

We’ve all done it, hopefully not too many times but please can we have a second prompt to confirm the choice when we click ‘Don’t Save’ when closing a file down.

Use bsDD translation for IFC content

Hi,

BuildingSmart has this "crowdsourced" translation project going on https://buildingsmart.crowdin.com/ifc.

In some countries like Finland there's an overlapping public Sanastot -vocabulary work ongoing as open project too. In some this "voluntary/ open source" work is done by government body, in some by local BuildingSmart.

Once further, the bsDD work enables to load translations of IFC contents as a " (bsDD) library" to software/solution. For example to Archicad+MEP Designer if support for it would be implemented.

This would enormously benefit the everyday use of objects and IFC, with local language, naming conventions and content support.

It would also take burden from GS as Archicad, MEP, localizations would benefit from market contribution too.

So, vote for this one, please!

-Ville

Layer Combination rules

In our localized template made by our local Graphisoft partner, we have a layer combination that is named "ALL ON." However, when a user creates a layer... It's not automatically ON on "ALL ON" layer combination. Also, we cannot tie the whole folder with layers inside to a layer combination. Meaning, if we have a MEP layer folder, and we want to turn on all MEP layers with a layer combination, we have to look for newly added layers to make sure that they are on in the previously created layer combination.

What I'm suggesting is something similar to this:

rakurs_0-1754042640361.png

It would mean that this folder's content are ALWAYS ON on a specified layer combination, whether it gets new layers later or some layers shuffled around. Maybe the "lock" icon I drew isn't perfect because on the right side, it would also need a "LOCKED lock" which might be confusing, but this graphical representation of the idea is the first thing that crossed my mind.

Hide Inactive Navigator Items

The amount of used navigator items grows with the project but not all of them are relevant or actively used simultaneously. For views and layouts folders can be used to collapse the structure but the item will still be returned in searches and just having the collapsed top node visible and selectable adds to cognitive load.

To avoid this we first the ability to set the status of an navigator item to inactive and then the ability to filter based on this status in the navigator akin to "hide inactive".

Disabling AC28's New Home Screen

Though it is welcome for new users this screen is bloatware for older users and we should be able to disable it completely and/or able to remove unnecessary bloat
