Support for Hierarchical Sub‑Variants in Design Options

Archicad currently allows creation of multiple Design Options within Option Sets, but each option variant exists independently—requiring full duplication even when options share common parts.

It would be very beneficial to introduce support for hierarchical sub‑variants within Design Options. For example:

  • Parent Option: “One or Two Apartments” – controls a partition wall.
  • Child Options: Different internal layouts for each of the two apartments (e.g., kitchen or bathroom arrangements).

Currently, these must be handled as separate, disjointed options. With hierarchical sub‑variants, shared elements could stay in the parent option, and only the varying parts would be defined in child options. This would make managing complex, multi‑level alternatives much simpler and less error‑prone.

Why this is useful:

  • Avoids duplicating entire designs for minor variations.
  • Keeps shared geometry in one place, ensuring consistency.
  • Reduces time and mistakes when working with complex, nested alternatives.
  • Maintains project organization and clarity in scenarios with multiple phases or nested design choices.

Section Marker - Different marker heads at each ends

In many documentation standards section markers should look like below.

Currently in Archicad it is not possible to achieve this graphic. Please make it available.

Graphic Overrides - Option for Offset from current floor

The problem to address: Sometimes when preparing a drawing, we see floors that are much more than one floor below the current story.  We can obviously see the projected elements below.  However, a floor that is 5 stories below will have the same line weights as a story which is just below that current story.  I'd very much like to be able to have the hatches for grass, pavement, etc.  gradually faded with each floor above it that the current story is.

The request: What would be useful would be an option for offset from current story.  This would allow a series of rules that could create a range of line weights to work on floors below the current story.

Cloud Licence - Allow single GSID to consume multiple licences

Another Cloud licence request.

Previously with Codemeter as the licences were just floating on the network, if I needed to open up archicad on my desktop and laptop at the same time, that was fine. It just consumed two of the available licences.

Now however, if I want to do that, I need to be logged in to unique graphisoft IDs on each device which is really frustrating.

My request is to permit a single graphisoftID to consume multiple floating licences at the same time.  So if I have 10 licences available, 2 would be consumed, and 8 would be left available.  It just means I can be logged in to the same graphisoftID on both computers.

To be clear - this does not mean trying to cheat the system and use the same licence on two computers at the same time, each device would still consume a separate licence.

We currently use Foxit PDF Editor, and this is how this feature is handled by them..

Set symbol line for MEP route in MEP systems

Why can not we set symbol line in MEP systems dialog window?

KarelLanda_0-1736747811499.png

This is possible in MEP route settings but that leads to overriding MEP systems and thus leading to more errors in project.

Mirror symmetry for tool lines

Making a mirror symmetry for a line (or arc, polyline, spline) already drawn...

Solid Element Operations effect on other elements

Typically if you are doing a solid element operation on an element to eliminate a portion of that element it is because you don't want that part of the element to exist.  Therefore it would be ideal if the eliminated portion of a solid element did not have an effect on other elements that occupy the space of the removed portion.  Example, if I remove a part of a wall with a roof and I want a beam to run through that now open space, the beam will have a gap where the removed wall was.  The only way to fix this is to go in make the beam a material that has a higher priority than all parts of the wall. But that affects all elements with that material. it gets very complicated and cumbersome.  It would be much more efficient if the removed portion of the wall acted as if it wasn't there and would have no effect on anything.

27 'Obsolete' library for 28

The version 27 library contained in the version 28 installation files is a fully functioning version 27 library.

Loading this along with the 28 Library packs will result in 2 locations where you can find the same object.

The old 27 one that you should not be using and the new 28 version.

This is why it is not recommended to have both libraries loaded, but is necessary if you have an old file with 27 objects in it - otherwise they will be 'missing'.

We could really do with a 27 library where all of the objects have been saved with the 'obsolete' option activated.

That way we will be able to see the object settings if the 27 object has all ready been placed in an old file opened in 28.

But when it comes to placing a new object, we will not see the old 27 ones, just the new 28 ones.

This is exactly what has been done in all of the old migration libraries up until now when an old object has been replaced with a new version that is not compatible and could not be migrated to the new version.

So my wish - please create an 'obsolete' version 27 library.

Barry.

Design options palette three, no four UI wishes

When I first tested the design options, I originally poo-pooed the idea. I'm one of those creatives, that nails the design first time every time!! I know!

So, a year later when I worked out I could use it for other purposes, like mass templating of site parcels and landscaping, electrical, specifications and everything else. I have to say, I'm sorrr

Since you're still in active development like I am writing my apology, please add these amazing wishes!
1. Accept and Merge to be added to the Design Option Palette

    - You have no idea how annoying it is to open the Design Option Manager for this one option. (Leave the Design Option Manager for the combination views)

2. Merge only option

    - Don't delete other merged items in a subset. I'm creating many subsets with only one item because I might need that option in the future.

3. Design Options work on Layouts

    - Detail & Note changes per facade, You know, you cant duplicate markers. and have them setup differently. How about 2 different floor plans have 2 different joinery elevation locations. Now you have to move the elevations for each design change, so what I do is create 2 elevation sets. So The layouts should also change the placed elevation views to the correct set.

4. Allowing Grasshopper or Parameter expressions, or something else externally to pre-select and merge design options

    - Because I should be able to select options before I open the job. It's the future after all

5. (Bonus) Sub-Subsets, folders in folders!

 - Like Favorites and other stuff

Merge Details, Worksheets and/or Views and Related Settings

ArchiCAD to ArchiCAD merge options.
We really need the option to merge details and worksheets, not only the virtual building and the layout book*, which have been our options the past 10 years or probably more.

As an alternative the merge option of views and related settings (layer combo**, model view combo**, reno filters**, graphic override rules and combos** etc.) would be an awesome feature. (And please add a scripted log of created items that I can later go through and overview, clean up etc.)

Here are some typical reasons why this is very important for us:

1. We have projects with hundreds of details and several dozen worksheets placed on layouts. We prefer to have projects where everything is contained within that project and try to avoid external drawing references. This means that we spend a lot of time creating details in other projects, setting up the view, copying the content from the other file and then place it on a layout.

2. Our template file contains hundreds of details and worksheets. Every now and then it would be great to start fresh with a new ArchiCAD version, but we can't because we would need to manually create and copy paste several hundred details. That takes weeks.

3. When choosing which project is the host (the basis of the future project file), we have to go with the file that has the closest content detail-wise. That is a tough compromise, because that file might not have the floor plan, section and the other model-based views in the file. We can import the model and the layout book, but have to manually create every single view and redirect in the drawing manager. This can also amount to days, weeks of work. So this is where the import view (+ related combos) would be very useful.

* the layout book merge is literally the layout book. the placed drawings will all be external references, views are not imported as internal views.

** most of these can be imported with either attribute manager or separate export/import features, but it would be great if this import process was automatic with importing a view - but that is the lesser issue. the larger problem is that views can't be imported.

Ability to color-code folders in Organizer / Layout Book

I often find myself searching for drawings in the Layout Book and realizing that I am in the wrong folder (for example, “Study” instead of “Building Permit Documentation”). This happens quite frequently, especially in larger projects with many folders and drawings.
It would be very helpful if users could assign background colors (or any kind of color coding) to folders in the Organizer (Layout Book, View Map, Publisher Sets). This would significantly improve visual orientation, reduce mistakes, and speed up navigation within the project structure.

Even a simple option to assign a color label to folders would make a big difference in daily workflow.

Improving control of wall ends in 2D and 3D

The way the 3D geometry and ends of a wall behave at the moment give the user insufficient control over the outcome.

  • It would be a great improvement if the wall ends could be adjusted - in 2D to match for example a non-orthogonal slab edge or in 3D to be able to adjust the heights of the wall ends individually
  • additionally the possibility to add control points along the upper edge loop - similar to a certain degree to how you add control points to a mesh object - would further enhance the user friendliness of this tool

For now all above mentioned points can be achieved via the wall end tool - if it is not a complex profile or composite wall or by using SEOs

MEP library improvement

I think we need a big update in the MEP library. No new objects since ..... I can't even remember

They can be pretty basic, but I miss a lot of

- Valves (f.ex. 3 way valve, etc) with a schematic 2D diagram as an option

- Ventilation and Aircon equipment and units. (f.ex. VRV outdoor unit, ceiling units, 4 way ceiling unit,...)

Same applies for lights... a little update would be fantastic.

Changing case of texts

Is there an option to change text in the text tool from lowercase to uppercase and vv. Perhaps as an option in the "Favorites" menu.

Smarter Polylines and Fills – Add ID, Properties, and Cross‑View Recognition

Polylines and Fills are simple but powerful drafting tools in Archicad. However, they remain limited in how they can contribute to data workflows. With a few small improvements, they could become valuable tools for quantity takeoffs, annotations, and integration into BIM data reports.

Proposed improvements:

  • Allow user-defined IDs for Polylines (like Fills already have), to make them listable in schedules.

  • Enable assignment of custom Properties (from Property Manager) to both Polylines and Fills.

  • Include basic dimensional data (length, perimeter, area) directly as native schedule fields.

  • Allow Polylines and Fills to be read from Section and Elevation views, not just Floor Plans,
with a “source view” parameter to identify where they were drawn from and make them filterable.

Why this is useful:

  • Boosts modeling speed with simple 2D tools that feed into data and quantity workflows.

  • Enables “hybrid” workflows where schematic elements can still be tracked and quantified.

  • Great for compiling supplementary data for construction estimates, where not every element needs to be modeled in 3D.

  • Gives more control and traceability for annotations, graphical conventions, and custom visual logic.

Bonus benefit:
Sometimes the simplest tools are the fastest. Enhancing these basic elements would empower users to speed up many parts of the process—without relying on heavier modeling just to get quantities out.

Copy selection to a specific/new layer

I wish there was a function to copy and paste a selection of Elements (either in plan or in 3D) to another layer.

Say you would copy Elements either in 2D or 3D and then in the Edit menu, you would have a new option for "Paste Special", where you could choose where (to which layer or to a new layer) you want to paste your Elements from your clipboard.

Each Element has an information about its Home Story and Layer so making a copy of the same Element on the same Home Story just on a different Layer can't be that hard to implement. With some layer management, this could even be used as a workaround for the missing function of copying Elements in 3D, which is supposedly not so easy to implement in Archicad.

Delete window with renovation tool

If you want to remove a window with a renovation filter, it will also remove the sill and lintel. It's recommended to be able to configure the removal process for each component (window frame, sill, lintel, etc.). Currently, it's cumbersome to get a correct display.

Get rid of Save changes before closing dialog

Could you please finally make Archicad save work continuously without the possibility of losing hours of work by accidentally clicking 'Don't save' when closing Archicad?

Just like it's common in 2025 with most other applications (at least on Mac)?

Thank you. (Lost just 3 hours of work today.)

Locally Define Cut Planes

We need the ability to locally define a custom cut plane.

Graphisoft needs to provide a solution for story settings for multiple buildings with different floor levels, or buildings with multiple floor elevations on one story. This could potentially utilize a polygonal Marquee to define the area of custom cut plane, or something similar.

  • The current workflow for multiple buildings at different elevations requires MODs.

  • The current workflow for multiple floor elevations on a story in the same building requires view-based custom cut planes, which do not always work with cutting through fenestration – setting some walls to symbolic cut is time consuming and doesn’t necessarily fix the issue in all instances and can provide unwanted graphical issues.

  • Optional (even less efficient) workflows require PMK creation for portions of the building which are then placed in plan views, or alternatively saving separate views and stitching them together on the layout.

Delete and Replace Property in Property Manager

Working with different localisation project files is a problem on it's own, so I will not talk about it here.

What would be of great help would be an additional Property Manager option if one wants to delete an existing Property.

If the Property, which needs to be removed (e.g. a duplicated Property in two different languages in my case), matches another Property Type and Value with a different name, there could be a Delete and Replace (or merge) option available.
