Staircase tool in ARCHICAD 23 ?

Anyone know whats going on with the staircase tool in AC 23 ? This version seems to keep an orange block around the full demise of the stairs. Any idea how to remove this / deactivate it ? see image attached. Previous version AC 22 never did this.

Trying to make a double (?) winder stair

I'm trying to recreate a staircase from plans that has a full 180 with equal going around a single point. The stair geometry is freaking out at this and not letting it happen. Is there a way to make this stair? Picture attached

Fills appear black

I don't know why but the vectorial fills do not function. I see them in the menu but when I try to apply them to the drawing, they appear like a black rectangle.
